GenZ engagement by channel

If most genZ are gamers, then why are marketers not into gaming? All the brands and big names in sport and entertainment industries are complaining that they don’t fully understand GenZ. But how many marketers have actually played Fortnite?

When Fortnite started, it generated $9bn revenue, just in the next 2 years, mostly selling digital skins to kids for their avatars even thought it decrease after lockdowns, their revenue stabilized in the likes of $300m monthly.

Imagine those kids growing up during covid, with the only option to interact socially with their friends being mostly to hang out in games. Whether it is good or bad, the fact is that it has become second nature for these kids to hang out in virtual worlds.

And these 14 year-olds of back then have become your 20 year-old audience now. And it would be madness to tell them, please be a client, we love you. But we are not going to let you hang out with your mates the way you have done for every other single day of your life.

Half of GenZ say they hang out with other people in games without even playing them! These worlds have become the new social places.

The question is not if virtual worlds work. The question is:
